All Fathers Matter (AFM)

All Fathers Matter is a support group for non-custodial fathers. This network is designed to assist fathers navigate the obstacles of visitation rights, positive parenting practices, as well as making mature decisions relative to “leaving the drama behind” in co-parenting. All Fathers Matter’s mission is to assist fathers dispel the theory that “non-custodial fathers are non-concerned fathers”.

 

Positive Discipline-Parenting Workshop

Positive Discipline offer fathers an interactive workshop to enhance fathering skills and introduce alternative methods to negative behaviors that effect children adversely. Participants will be given practical tools to stay calm in stressful times. Positive Discipline is an excellent method to satisfy court ordered, and child protective service requirements.

Fathers Advocating Scholastic Achievement (FASA)

Statistics reveal that children whose fathers were highly involved in their schools were more likely to do well academically, participate in extracurricular activities, and enjoy school. These students were less likely to repeat a grade or be expelled compared to children whose fathers were less involved in their schools. FASA, “Fathers Advocating Scholastic Achievement”, offers activities and workshops for fathers to gain comfort in actively engaging in their child’s academic success.

 

“All About the Benjamins” Literacy Training

This financial literacy workshop empowers urban men, making them knowledgeable about finance in a way that is relevant to their lives, income status and current spending prowess. Studies have shown that managing: household expenses and budget, money and debt, investments, and to save for their children’s college education are areas that many urban males aren’t financially literate. “All About the Benjamins” Literacy Training empowers men, making them knowledgeable about finance in a way that is relevant to their lives and allows them to use this knowledge to make informed decisions. Those who are financially literate are more likely to save and engage in sound financial decisions. Completion of this training will give participants a certain level of financial understanding in order to evaluate and compare financial products, such as bank accounts, savings products, and credit and loan options.
